What not to say to someone who is depressed

Depression is quite a serious business and those who haven't suffered can only imagine what the sufferer goes through.  If you have been reading my blog you will have seen that I believe there are many many things you can do to help yourself but one thing that really does not help is listening, even for a second, to the stupid comments that others make when they learn that you are depressed.

If you've ever been depressed you know what it feels like.  The stupid sentences that people give you that shows they don't understand what it means to be depressed and they don't realize the seriousness of it.

I just read a really really interesting article and I wanted to share it with you.  It talks about all these kind of things that make you mad if you're depressed.  It just shows that others don't understand at all and what's more they are not prepared to even try.

The article is called 11 things you should never say to someone with depression.

Please let me know what you think about the article and leave your comments below.

Why do You Have Such an Awful Life..?

Are you feeling like your life is awful?

Ok, for some people certain problems are making life difficult; nonetheless, your problems can be overcome.

What I would like to talk to you about today is maybe you feel your life is horrible but don't really know why or what to do...maybe you just feel depressed all the time and down on life in general.

Do you know the number 1 reason why most people feel depressed about their life?

It's not about problems...

It's about your thinking and your focus..

"one of the greatest causes of depression is focusing on other people. If your life seems bad then maybe it's because you are thinking too much about other's lives..."

What do I mean?

Well, are you focused on what you want.. or on what others want from you?

Are you working towards goals that make you happy or goals that others have chosen for you?

Are you measuring your life against that of your friends or family or other people?

If you want to feel much less depressed decide whose life you want to live and start creating goals YOU want to achieve...

Start to live by YOUR standards and forget what others tell you you must do..

Stop comparing what others do, where they live and how they live, how much they earn, what job they have and throw that ALL away NOW.

Create your own life and depression will melt as soon as you take steps towards being you.

Create a list of things you want to see, do, be, have, enjoy NOW

Start imagining living a life with those goals reached - how does it feel?

Ignore what others are doing or telling you and listen to the master voice inside and act with your heart for there lies your best.

I wish you a great week...

An amazing tip you can use every morning..

I hope that this week finds you feeling hopeful. I'd like to offer a quick tip here that will help you find more motivation and happiness and make you stronger. So let's get to it...

Do you ever wake up and find yourself down even before you've got up?

Before your day has started you already feel depressed?

If that's true then I have a solution..

I sometimes find my mind working against me in that period before I wake up properly. Negative thoughts beginning to creep up on me and fear and anger are also there not far behind. have you experienced that?

If I get up all gloomy, dreading the day ahead I know that I have a problem even before the day has kicked in.

You cannot face the new day like that. A new day should be exciting and full of possibilities...

Depression is like a seperate character inside you, a real enemy because he talks to you and tells you negative things. In your subconscious and in your drowsy morning state this little monster can be very powerful.

What do I do before I get up so that I am happy and feeling ready for the day? ı have a tip I'd like to offer you next time you feel bad in the early hours.

Calm your breathing and then put your thoughts onto something you love, something that made you happy even if for just a short time. Relax. Now start to think of all the GOOD things in your life. There are lots if you think. Even if your life seems horrible or if depression grips you, you can do this...

Count the things you have already which are good, the people, the places everything. The things that you saw or heard or enjoyed recently. There is a beautiful world out there - what do you find beautiful? Think of that.

Gratitude, being thankful is an awesome thing. It will change your attitude instantly. Spend 10 or 20 minutes doing this before you get up and your mood will be positive.

Let me know if this tip helps you and if you try it...I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Before you go, can I recommend something that I have tried and really believe will help you?

It killed my depression stone dead (though it requires some time to complete). It's a superb program that I've taken and it worked wonders for me!
