Got back a day or two ago from a wonderful holiday in Kitzbuhel, Austria.
To spend Christmas in the snow is a dream come true and yet again I was lucky enough to witness snow falling over the holiday.
You may think winter is hard to bare and maybe you miss the summer but I think winter is so underrated!
Like everything snow can be hellish or heaven. Depends on your point of view. Summer too can be hellish or heaven depends what you make of it and how you feel.
Christmas is a feeling and it felt really good in the alps! I even went snowboarding in a white out on Christmas Day!

It is so important to use this holiday season, (for most of you are about to celebrate Christmas and others the New Year), to take time out to focus on what's truly important to you. Also it is a great time to relax and winter gives you the opportunity to do that (yes I know it's hot there in Australia and New Zealand but still you can relax on the beach!)

You know this week I have realised again how easy it is to slip into old ways.
I have been working online and offering help to my visitors for years right?
I have been giving advice, tips and techniques about how important it is to believe in yourself. I have always known this to be true.
This week I have been continuing to work on a big project I have for my website and as with everything worth doing there are ups and downs. It is critical not to become negative when you experience one of those downs.
It is a hard, lonely road when you face your problems and challenges alone. I decided to get help and now have a mentor - someone to help me and motivate me to try new things and reach for success.
This week I started to rethink what I was doing and negativity got the better of me. Yes I pretended to myself that I was considering the worst case scenario but really I was just preparing myself to limit my success.
Do you believe in the law of attraction?
If you think you can do something you will. If you think you cannot then you will not. You attract the things in your life according to your thinking.
I do believe this.
So why did I start to think negatively? This won't work. My results will not be that good. This is a problem, that is a problem. Shame about this and pity about that...
I needed to get positive and my friend told me exactly what I needed to hear...
"Karl you have GOT to be more positive..."
"Get your head in the game and stop all the negativity ... think BIG and you will make BIG ... put a ceiling on yourself and you will fail rapidly!"
How true. You see, we all go backwards sometimes but I'm here to tell you today that you need to stop yourself at those times and decide to move forward again.
Self improvement is the most worthwhile thing yet it requires self motivation and constant work. When you get down, don't stay there - do something to help yourself...
We'll talk about what you can do to help yourself next time but for today one peice of advice:
Get the help of a friend or if you have a major project in mind get the help of a professional. When someone is supporting what you're doing and there to help you when you fall or stumble it can make it so much easier.

No, I'm not only referring to work here but any goal you're trying to achieve right now.
Before you can make progress towards any improvement or goal you need to ask yourself one all-important question. This step is often forgotten..
Ask yourself why.
Why are you doing whatever it is that you are doing?
If you focus on the why's behind what you think you want you will be so much more certain to succeed. You will be clearer when you need to decide. Your actions will be designed to help you make your dream reality.
Often low self esteem takes hold because of confusion about your purpose and reasons for what you're doing. Self-doubt grows out of confusion and indecision.
Don't be content to ask yourself what you want but also ask why you want it?
Go deeper and you will understand yourself better and be surer of your path ahead.
Always ask yourself why and what it is that you're really in search of. When you spend time digging into your real reasons for your decisions - you will find they are not the reasons you've been telling yourself for so long.
In the same way, looking at the why's may show you that what you're trying to achieve is not really what you need.
Focus on the why's and be clear about what you want...

I've got another quick message about beating depression for you,
please read this and use it because it can change your life...
How does depression do such a great job of wrecking your life?

One of the most important aspects of life as you move through it is your attitude - don't you agree?
Well today I'd like to ask you about your attitude towards the new..
Currently I'm in Durham, England teaching and the whole point of being here and doing this is to bring new experiences into my life. Life is about learning and you can only do that if you push yourself to go where you haven't been before or try things which are new to you. Whenever I get the chance I am visiting new places in order to see and learn more about my country and the world I live in. Not only that but by trying new things I learn more about who I am and what I want.
Are you stuck in a routine? Maybe you feel you are bored..
Seek out new places, new people, new experiences and learn.
You shouldn't fear challenges, you should welcome them and go for it. Likewise change can be stressful at first but can bring variety into your life. Don't fear change but welcome that too.
If you change your attitude today so that you start to seek new opportunities and experiences your life will become so much more rewarding and this will help turn you into a better person.
The world is a fantastic place full of challenge and variety. Don't keep yourself in the safe zone all the time, take a breath and try something new, take the time to learn something new - I guarantee your life will be so much better!

Your attitude. Is life happening to you or are YOU making it happen?
Do you believe in fate or do you believe you control your own fate? Plant in your mind that it is not what events come your way through fate but how you handle what is thrown at you that matters. You can influence every aspect of your life through your choices and decisions. Don't deny your power in dealing with life.
Need a change, you can make it. Need to make an improvement - you can. Sometimes things seem to come out of the blue but you make them happen and you can find an opportunity in even the worst situations IF you have the right attitude.
Don't give up ever if you really want something. Be determined and go for it. You may have doubts. Others may try to tell you it won't work. trust your desire. Do you really want to do it? Then NEVER let go of your dream and drive on. Success does not come quickly every time and it may elude you... But... You WILL succeed. Never give up.
There is one more thing you need to change your life and find the success you are looking for. What is it?
OK - you've got the right attitude.
OK - you are determined to succeed and are not giving up...
The third thing you need is to..
Act now, don't wait.
Don't delay. If you do you allow self doubt and fear to grow. You allow opportunities to pass. You lose time. You invite those discouraging comments into your head. If you're sure of what you want then begin now. Today. Immediately.

After spending a week at home with my parents I travelled north to the city of Durham, home to one of England's best universities. Durham is a pretty and historic city that is typical England (including the rain!)
I've started teaching at the university and will be here until the end of September.
What am I teaching?
I am teaching pre-sessional academic writing to Master's students studying Law.
I love teaching because it is a chance to give. Teaching combines sharing your experience and knowledge and helping young people to better themselves. Teaching here in Durham is really rewarding personally and gives me yet another purpose and reason in my life. It also brings variety as I normally live so far away from home in Turkey.
It is important to give of yourself and share what you know with the world. Helping others and working with them is a joy in itself. Open yourself up to giving instead of asking and you will find the world gives back to you anyway...
Likewise, variety in life is priceless. Don't stay in the safety of routine be adventurous and live a little. Push yourself for that's where success lies...

Normally the answer would be no...
Happiness comes from within how can you buy that? Well, here's a great poem that answers this question in an interesting way:

This is my loving dog "Toffee". I can't tell you how much happiness she has given me over the years.
A pet not only helps you get rid of stress but changes your whole outlook. It is one great antidote to depression. Better than any anti-depressant for sure!

Yesterday evening I arrived in Durham in the North of England, greeted by the rain but my enthusiasm is not dampened! I will be teaching as I did last year at Durham university for one month...

Do you have difficult decisions to make?
What is the most important thing to remember before making important decisions?
Well if you had bought my self esteem secrets e-book you would have got my free 1,000 word report about making good choices to help you build your self esteem. I really put a lot of time and effort into that report and it's filled with great advice.
So what's the answer to that last question above??
- Don't make decisions for a negative reason.
You shouldn't make any important decision when you are in a negative mood because you will decide badly. Your view will be mistaken and you will only see the down side of the situation.
Don't say "I hate this or have to desperately change this..."
Or "I can't stand this anymore so..."
Or "I don't want this, I don't like this.."
Decide only when you are in a positive mood and can see things correctly and in balance. You MUST make decisions for a positive reason..
Decide to do something or make a change in order to improve or better your situation.
Decisions which help you develop or grow or move forward are positive decisions.
So my message for you today is:
IF YOU HAVE AN IMPORTANT DECISION TO MAKE WAIT UNTIL YOU FEEL POSITIVE AND MAKE POSITIVE DECISIONS

Antione Albeau (France) - No.1 PWA Slalom Windsurf Champion and world record speed holder.
From the 10-15 August the Professional Windsurfing Association held the world cup in Alacati, Turkey and that's where I spend my summer windsurfing.
Can you imagine being able to see and mix with the top people in a sport or activity that you are very interested in?
Talk about motivation!
The worlds fastest competitors in windsurfing were racing and I took the opportunity to talk to some of them and we got incredible photos too! Talking to the experts in your field of interest is a great experience, how often do you get that chance?
I met the British champion Ross Williams and chatted with him several times, what a nice guy!

That answer was public speaking. So here are five great tips to beat your fear of making speeches,giving presentations or whatever form of public speaking awaits you.
Plan, Plan, Plan, Plan
The old saying is still true - fail to plan then plan to fail... The key to delivering a successful speech is to know your material, write about what interests you and speak about something you are passionate about - for some it's much easier to talk about cars then finance. Always plan out what is appropriate for your audience, if it's something with a lot of data or numbers - then it may be more appropriate to include a variety of print outs whereas a meeting about cars could have a slide show on a projector with a variety of cars you will talk about. Sometimes you don't get to choose what you get to talk about and so you just have to find your own personal way to discuss the topic that has a personal touch, something that makes it unique.
Learn Your Material
You will find it amazingly easier to deliver a speech that you know what your talking about and that you have rehearsed, rather then one that you finished writing and printing the night before. Preparation is essentially the key to doing well in a speech and you will find that over preparing will never hurt.
Okay, so your standing in front of a crowd and it doesn't matter how big that crowd is, you may be feeling like your heart is beating at 150 miles an hour. Everything is moving so fast, and you hear your name called to start your speech. You feel queasy inside and as you open your mouth to say a word, you feel no moisture - just a dry mouth. This is what you will feel like most likely and don't worry, there are many other people who feel the exact same way when delivering a speech. This is how you may feel at the beginning but when you finish speaking you will feel completely different if you manage to keep the audience interested and maintain in control of yourself.
Do's and Do Not's
Before you start, take a deep breath and just build yourself up. My favorite quote to say when I am in that position is to say, 'I can achieve whatever I believe'. Keep taking deep breaths whenever you need to, your audience will be thankful that you are pacing every now and then - it also gives them a chance to soak in the information. If you have the option, you can take a sip of water every now and then as a breather break.
Don't: Apologize for a Mistake
Don't apologize for a mistake. People most likely didn't notice it and stopping and saying, 'I'm sorry - that wasn't meant to be there' is more likely going to do more harm then good. Just continue on like you didn't even notice you made a mistake, it's the same concept when performing in a dance competition or a music recital - don't stop if you mess up - just continue and show you have the ability to adapt to any situation.
Nobody likes a speech without enthusiasm and you will often find it may be difficult to speak up and project your voice but it will involve your audience and be worth it in the end.
Don't: Worry about Blushing/Embarrassment
Everyone hates speaking in a crowd (well mostly everyone - including me) and naturally some people will blush or get 'red faced'. The more you worry about it, the more people will take notice to it. If you focus your energy on engaging your listeners and forget about the blushing then it will fade as soon as it arrived and less people will care about it because you obviously don't seem to.
You did it! You finished your speech and guess what? You're still alive and I am sure you even got a hand of applause when you finished. Feels good doesn't it? Well, you put in the hard work and survived - take a deep breath and acknowledge any complements with a quick thanks.

Well, this blog post is not about windsurfing but about success and attitude. Last week I went out windsurfing and I just couldn't make any progress. I made the same old mistakes and kept coming up short. My mind was all wrong. I couldn't do anything special at all. I felt like quitting and said to myself this is a failure - I can't do anything today.
The next day I thought back and decided that I'm not as bad as that. After all, ı have been at this sport for years. My performance was way down and I didnt do myself justice. So with a change of attitude what happened? I amazed myself and erased the day before from my memory. I was like a new person and I just couldn't stop pushing myself further and further until I exceeded my expectations. A week later I now know I have progressed so much and wonder if that day didn't mean so much more than simply windsurfing...
Of course in business, in your personal life you can achieve so much more with the right attitude. It gives you energy and determination and makes success inevitable.
Next time you find yourself struggling and giving up ask yourself how you can change your attitude and understand just how much your success depends on your thinking.
I really hope that this post helps you today in some small way. get your mind right and you can fly!!

The reason why so may people buy programs or books and don't see results is because they don't take action...
You are not actually working on your problems until you apply what you learn so don't kid yourself that learning is enough. Learning is only the first small step...
Please think about all the times you have tried to solve your problems and looked for information. How did you apply it? Did you give up before putting the new knowledge into action?
Self help books are filled with quizzes and exercises. Did you take these seriously and complete them before moving on? Did you think about the questions and use your answers to make a change in your life?
Let's face it just one aha moment in any book, webpage or e-book could be enough to make a huge difference IF you apply that and make a change in your life or in your behaviour...

Before you can change your life and what's in it you need to change what's inside you. It's a fact that if you say something like "I hate my life and this is not what I want!" then you're just focusing on what's wrong and you'll get more of that again.
In order to make positive changes in your physical world you need to think differently and feel differently. Ever notice that when you feel good everything seems to go well for you?
The opposite is true when you feel bad and indulge your negative side everything seems to get worse...
I've tried changing where I live and moved to a different country on more than one occasion and my life did change but guess what? My mind went with me and my problems were still there. Given time if you want to chase your dreams and live a better and happier life start by changing inside.
How do you do this?
First you should look at yourself, your thoughts and what you say because this shows what is going on inside you. Is your attitude helping you or holding you back?
Find some time to quieten down and get peaceful. Listen to some gentle music. Ask yourself what you want and begin to see and experience it in your mind.
Read positive books and fill your brain will positive stuff.
Talk to yourself in a positive way. This is called self talk and it will help you to become happier.
Focus on what's good in your life and be thankful.
keep a daily journal of your successes and things that made you happy.
Imagine a car with a poor engine, not serviced and not working properly. It struggles uphill coughing and spluttering and sometimes stops. It lets you down when you need it most.
Your mind is your engine and you cannot hope to be successful or happy without a mind that is functioning correctly and supporting you in facing every challenge that lies in front of you.

"I think the problem with me is that I have bad self image to the point where if I dont think I look good I wont be confident, and I'm just not happy with how I look so it therefore equals to me not being happy with who I am. I'm not an obviously vain person but its beginning to click with me that my self esteem is linked to my looks.Do I have to take more specific action if the problem is self image?
I have done this course and read Mckennas book instant confidence but it doesn't seem to make me feel better."My answer:
Well, it's a common problem especially with women. You see images of beautiful, slim models on TV and you feel ugly or fat because you don't think you compare. Perhaps you think you need to lose weight or you dont think you are attractive. Whatever the problem is it is common now.
It is difficult to get over this and needs you to get confidence step by step. It also needs a different way of thinking. You need to start focusing on your good points and try to accept yourself as you are. What are you good at? Who likes you and why? Is anybody attracted to you and if so what do they like about you?
Make a list of all your good points and any compliments people have given you write them down. This will help you when you feel bad.
Of course, if you do have a physical problem then get help.
If your problem is one of self image then tell a friend and maybe they can help. Make yourself feel more confident by trying a new hairstyle or new clothes. If it makes you feel more confident then do it. Maybe you will get a bit more attention from those you are trying to attract and this will boost your confidence...
Yes, action is needed to improve self image!
If you can, this is not easy, try to focus on other things apart from appearance and looks. Most people find personality, friendliness and humour very attractive and at work you will be judged by what you do rather than what you look like.
I will not deny that looks are an advantage and play a part, but much less than you believe...
You are unique, start today by showing the world just how unique you are!

I have often thought that procrastination is connected with low self esteem. If you are feeling down think about how much you are procrastinating...
The problem is that if you know in your heart that you are not taking action that you should you will feel worse and your self esteem will drop like a stone. In the question we can see how it feels to someone who procrastinates. They begin to hate this and soon they turn this against themselves...
So if you need to boost your self esteem then it follows that you need to take action!
Action that will free you...

If you suffer from low self esteem or lack of confidence, procrastination will make things worse because inside you will know that you are paralyzed..."

Do you have any thoughts on this? Is one better than another?
Some visitors have asked me if I have a printed book version of my e-book "Self Esteem Secrets" and some only want to order it if I have a book version...
Maybe a good old fashioned book has more prestige?
So, here's what I'm doing this week:
I'm preparing my e-book so that I can convert it into a printed book and become an author, something I've dreamed about all my life!
After I've done this I plan to sell it on Amazon and Barnes and Noble for starters...

Everyday I make a list and how many things come up on that list?
At least 6 or 7.
How does this make me feel?
1.Not enough time to do everything
Everyday I see opportunities, emails I should check out, things I've neglected and incompleted tasks. Where to begin? I ask myself...
I've had enough...I need to laser focus
Get everything boiled down to a single purpose so that I can give that 100%
At the moment I am working on 6 things at a time and nothing gets finished or done properly..
Do you have the same problem?
Today I am going to concentrate my efforts on one task and one goal and try to manage what I am doing better.
Is this a problem you face? We have enough time in a day - we are all just wasting it...

Depression is a very sad thing and I faced it many many times during my life. I know how black and hopeless it you can all appear when you're suffering. I'm a great believer in healing yourself from depression.
I believe that one of the best things that you can do to help yourself get out of depression is to do something positive. You may ask how can I do something positive when I feel depressed? The answer is that when you feel depressed even a small step will count for a lot.
Here is my top tip for beating depression long-term:
Try to find something positive that you can do. You need to think about this. The important thing is that you should do something that will help others. Often when people get depressed they focus on themselves and isolate themselves. This only makes things worse. You need to look outwards and socialise if possible, though this often seems impossible when you feeling down or depressed.
The Internet gives us a unique opportunity to connect with a others and to help others. You can research opportunities to do this. Making friends through social media can open up many many opportunities to do something positive with your time, rather than just wasting it surfing the Internet.
For many years I have been teaching but at the same time I have been writing and running several websites about psychology and self help. Maybe you visited my two websites about depression and self esteem. The aim of these websites is to help other people but in the process of doing this I have got to know so many supporting professionals who have now become close friends and opportunities are opening up for me to take this more and more in the direction of a career.
You need to find a source of happiness doing something positive for others. Working on this, even in your spare time, will help make depression a thing of the past.
We all suffer from depression from time to time but the most important thing is not to let it get you down too much. Being successful means being able to take the knocks in your stride and not letting them destroy you. Doing something positive will enable you to feel good about yourself and this will make you stronger.
So write that book, offer something for free that will help others, give advice, work with others for a good cause online. Don't limit yourself to a life consisting of a job you only do for money and which leaves you no time or energy for anything else worthwhile.

As we know from the law of attraction - what you tell yourself affects your thoughts and your thoughts become your reality. If you are constantly telling yourself negative things or thinking in a negative way you reality will become very negative.
This is where affrmations can be very helpful. And affirmation is a positive message which you repeat or you read over and over again to make your thinking more positive.

Once you've accepted the reality of your situation, (no matter how bad it might seem), you can begin to move forward. I have often been in a situation where I don't like what's happening and I feel extremely uncomfortable with my situation in life. At times I have said to myself I can't stand this anymore and inside I've just been fighting a war. If you find yourself doing this, ask yourself - is this going to help you change the situation for the better? I don't think so...
Fighting anything means conflict and you should try to avoid conflict. This will only waste your energy when you should be putting your energy into positive change. Think about this...
It's not only when you want to change something but when you want to start something up that you can begin to fight. Fighting does not feel good. If you feel like you're fighting against something then take a long hard look at how you're working or living. Progress will never be smooth but you need a plan and you need to stay focused.

What was my mistake?
I've been working online for over 10 years now trying to help others improve their self esteem and end depression and I have built a business around this. Now I am looking to expand my business I have realized that I have been so busy with the technical aspects of writing online and running a website that I have forgotten the most important aspects of my self help mission:
It's all about connecting with other people. The personal touch.
I've lined up so many projects that I've practically ignored my growing list of unanswered emails and the friends I've made on Facebook and MySpace.
There are people I should be speaking to.. I should be making telephone calls. I should be answering the questions from my visitors, after all what am I trying to do but help others.
Being successful online or off depends on your connection with others. Don't forget that while you're writing or while you're concentrating on finishing a particular task you are isolated from other people.
If you want to be successful and you want to achieve more then look to make a real connection and spend more time with people communicating your message rather than hiding behind your desk or your monitor.

Two heads are better than one. Why? Sometimes you have a personal problem or a business decision to make and do you find yourself confused what to do? I know I really benefit from a second opinion and different perspective. Ideas are better shared between two people and failings come to light much quicker.
In the world of internet marketing two heads are also better than one. Not only do you have two viewpoints but also two sets of experience and twice the knowledge. You will also find that you are stronger when you work with another person because you will have access to skills you might not have.
We call this JV or joint venture in the online world.
Social marketing is a big thing in business and personal web work now. For example, if you have a website and want more traffic (who doesn't?) the social networks put you in touch with others and the traffic and business possibilities are multiplied...

The secret factor which is key to all these things and more is balance.
What I want to say is that if you don't have balance you can't be successful or happy.
Let's talk about work for a moment. I have always been seeking a balance between my personal life, the hobbies and pastimes that I want to pursue, family and career aims. The problem with a fulltime job is there is often no balance. You have to live your life according to the job's demands and when you return home exhausted you can't enjoy your free time. And there seems so little of that.
I'm trying now to find balance in my life so that I can work when I want to and do the things which I enjoy such as helping others and talking about prosperity and improvement. I want to develop my online business so that it will give me a great income and allow me freedom.
If you want to be happy you need balance. Some work, some free time, some time to relax and enjoy life. The necessary time to think about what you want and how to get it. Some breathing space in the hectic pace that we live nowadays.
I'm also concerned about building success online and helping others to earn money through their websites with affiliate marketing. Marketing and web traffic is everything here and for this to be successful, as in any business, balance is the key. You have to do a range of activities and you have to do them in a balanced way. Concentrate on one thing too much and you won't succeed. You need to focus sometimes but keep in mind the big picture that you need to do everything in coordination and in harmony.
When my life is in balance I get so much done and I feel good because I'm heading towards what I want to achieve. There are days when everything is out of focus and unbalanced. Those days is stressful and even if I work really hard I seek to achieve nothing at the end of the day.
How can you achieve more balance in your life? Ask yourself: are you working too hard? Are you obsessed with a single task which you just can't seem to get finished or a particular problem which you just can't seem to solve? Is your life balanced? Are the priorities you have in your life coming from within or outside? What would it take to make your life more balanced?
